I incorporated a technique, the Pomodoro technique while completing a task and to say it was a success was an understatement. Because I use it ALL THE TIME. Only is wasn’t until this week that I came to know a term was associated with my genius-ness. Let me pat myself on the back. Ah, better.
Basically, what I do whenever a task befalls upon me, like save a kingdom, I roughly calculate the time it would take to complete. And that time calculation is almost always wrong, but let us not focus on that. This time calculation then helps me break my task(s) into segments.
- Formulate a strategy
- Get weapons
- Use my wit (Error 404: Not found)
- Done!
Since attention span is shortening as I age, I reward myself after roughly 25 minutes (also, my back hurts). The reward isn’t expensive but fulfilling. Sugar rush, serotonin injections and whatnot. Google translate: Khana peena and pointless videos on YouTube. Let us not forget that I check my phone after the task just to make sure my imaginary friends don’t miss me.

This is a foolproof method and I highly recommend everyone to try it a couple of times. I didn’t get it right the first time, cheated the second time but the mere effort I put in made all the difference. I hope it makes a difference for you too. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.
PS. Have you ever heard of the Pomodoro technique?
